Petition Language Approved for the Recall of Marie Donigan

The Oakland County Board of Electors approved petition language for the recall of Marie Donigan (D-Royal Oak) this past Friday by a 2 – 1 vote. The language is identical to the language rejected by elector boards in Wayne, Macomb, Muskegon and Oscoda counties and previously approved in Kent County.

From the actions of these county elector boards, we know three things:

  1. The boards’ rejections of petition language is political. The language is clear, and we will win our appeals in circuit courts. We are waiting for hearings of our appeals to be scheduled in Wayne, Macomb, Muskegon and Oscoda counties.

  2. Petitions can now be circulated to force a recall election against Donigan and Rep. Robert Dean of Grand Rapids. Circulation will begin very soon.

  3. Oakland County Circuit Judge Eugene Moore is an idiot. Moore voted against approving the Rep. Donigan recall language, but instead of just voting “no” like many did on other elector boards, the Judge provided an explanation. He claimed the recall language was unclear because it didn’t describe the state income tax that Michigan State Representative Donigan voted to increase as MICHIGAN’S state income tax. Judge Moore said that, without the word ‘Michigan’ before the words ‘state income tax,’ citizens might believe that State Rep. Donigan voted to increase...ummm...I don’t know, perhaps South Dakota’s income tax?

C’mon, Judge! If you want to protect a political buddy at the expense of doing your job, I guess you can try to do that. But don’t insult the intelligence of citizens in the process.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Many will perhaps be welcoming home relatives and friends that were forced to leave Michigan to find employment. Together, we can recall the turkeys responsible for raising taxes, and change the climate in Lansing so that Michigan can be a place where employers want to create jobs again!
