Andy Dillon's Mexican vacation saves taxpayers $280 million!
Friends,
The legislature is in session this week, but not Speaker Andy Dillon. Why? According to subscription-only MIRS News, "House Speaker Andy DILLON (D-Redford Twp.) is taking a one-week vacation in Mexico with his family this week."
Yes, the same Andy Dillon who said in The Detroit News last week that the campaign to recall him from office “will distract him and other lawmakers from dealing with the housing crisis, energy restructuring and needed jobs” is relaxing while other lawmakers vote. I guess those issues are not as important to Dillon as the beaches and bars in Mexico are.

| WE DID IT! Speaker Dillon will face recall election
The citizen's of Redford, Dearborn Heights, and Livonia needed to collect 8,720 signatures in order to have a 'recall Andy Dillon' question placed on the August 5th ballot.
I am ecstatic to announce that today Rose Bogaert, Sandra Eggers, and members of the Wayne County Taxpayers Association were able to submit 15,498 signatures to the Michigan Secretary of State - 77% more than required!
Everyone who helped make this possible is to be congratulated and thanked - including YOU if you pitched in.
Sorry, Andy. You made the choice of putting Lansing and bigger government ahead of the citizens' budgets. Now the citizens - over 15,000 of them - have asked for a choice on whether you should be fired ASAP.
Andy Dillon will become the first House Speaker in the United States to be recalled from office. And it will happen because he raised taxes on suffering Michigan citizens.
Congratulations to all who are helping!

| Speaker Dillon uses violent, convicted felon to "educate voters"
The effort to recall Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon for his leading role in raising the state income tax by 12% and business taxes by (at least) 22% is finally becoming a bigger story in the media.
Today, The Detroit News published an article about the Michigan Democratic Party hiring Marcel L. Mitchell to "educate voters" about Speaker Dillon's voting record. Turns out that Mr. Mitchell's criminal record is as bad as Andy Dillon's record on tax hikes. Mitchell has been convicted eight times of armed robbery, firearms violations, and other criminal offenses and Mitchell HAS NEVER EVEN VOTED! So much for being a "voter educator". Check out the News article here.

Speaker Dillon's 'Beat the Recall' Playbook
Friends,
We are using fraud and lies to collect signatures for the recall of Andy Dillon. And we are breaking every recall law there is. All of this widespread fraud is paid for by an extremist group from Austria. Well, actually, these kind of accusations are what Andy Dillon will tell people in his desperate effort to avoid being recalled by his own constituents for leading the legislature to hike taxes on citizens.
You see, I already know every move that Andy Dillon will make while trying to avoid being the first House Speaker in the United States to be recalled from office. I know what he is going to do before he does. How? No Nostradamus or tea leaves are necessary. Andy Dillon and Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer are using the exact same playbook that the radical socialist organization called BAMN used to try to defeat the successful Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI) that was overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2006.

Meet Speaker Dillon’s Best Friend,
Supervisor Miles “Bull Conner” Handy
What kind of tyrant would demand that Martin Luther King Jr. pay for the costs of tear gas, water hoses, and German Shepherd dogs after a 1960s civil rights protest in Alabama? Well, probably a tyrant like Redford Township Supervisor Miles Handy!
Handy, who is House Speaker Andy Dillon’s closest political ally, did everything he could to stop taxpayers from peaceably protesting Lansing’s tax hikes outside the Redford post office yesterday. First, Handy closed the municipal parking lot across from the post office, saying he needed it for a “police staging area.” He then directed police to post hundreds of temporary ‘No Parking’ signs on utility poles in the subdivision streets surrounding the post office to further deny any parking spaces for tax protesters.

Thugs, Lies, and Video Tape!
Friends,
Last week I told you about the thuggish tactics of 'blockers' who attempt to intimidate petitioners and potential petition signers attempting to recall Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon from office.
Speaker Andy Dillon has steadfastly denied that he is behind the tactics of the thugs. These tactics include shouting at potential petition signers, blocking citizen access to petitioners, following petitioners home, lying, stalking them when they run routine errands, and swarming around petitioners in a threatening manner.
So, is Dillon really innocent of organizing the thugs? Check out this story that aired on Channel 4 WDIV News yesterday.
As reported on Channel 4 News, we are offering a $250 bounty to anyone who can positively identify the name and address of any of the thug blockers. The information will be used for the purpose of filing individual federal civil rights violation lawsuits against these thugs. Photos of the thugs can be found at www.dillonsthugs.com.

House Speaker Recall Effort Approved
Wayne County Court rules that recall language is clear, recalls move forward.
January 18th, 2008 – Wayne County Circuit Court Judge William J. Giovan approved petition language against House Speaker Andy Dillon (D-Redford), clearing the way for recall efforts to move forward.
Judge Giovon ruled that the recall language was clear, overturning the Wayne County Board of Electors previous ruling which declared that the language was “unclear”.
The Wayne County Taxpayers Association (WCTA), a local grassroots organization supporting the recall effort, will now proceed with signature gathering. Said WCTA Chair Rose Bogeart, “We are thrilled to finally be able to move forward with signature gathering. For too long now the Wayne County Board of Electors attempted to deny our constitutional rights and block the democratic process for their own political goals.”
Judge Giovon’s ruling also approved language for petitions to recall State Representitives Marc Corriveau (D-Northville) and Ed Gaffney (R-Grosse Pointe). |

Petition Language Approved for the Recall of Marie Donigan
The Oakland County Board of Electors approved petition language for the recall of Marie Donigan (D-Royal Oak) this past Friday by a 2 – 1 vote. The language is identical to the language rejected by elector boards in Wayne, Macomb, Muskegon and Oscoda counties and previously approved in Kent County.

| More Boards Declare Language "Unclear", Appeals filed
Last week was quite interesting.
First, county boards of electors continued to find recall petition language “unclear,” thereby requiring Michigan Recalls P.A.C. to file appeals to circuit courts. The latest inability to read occurred in Oscoda County this past Friday where, by a 2-1 margin, the Oscoda Elector Board rejected recall petition language filed by citizens against Rep. Joel Sheltrown (D-West Branch). The rejected recall language was the EXACT same language that the Kent County Board described last week as the “clearest recall language” they had ever read when they approved the petition to recall Rep. Robert Dean (D-Grand Rapids).

| Victory: Kent County Board Approves Dean Recall Language!
Hooray for Kent County!!
The Kent County Board of Electors has just approved the recall petition language for the citizens attempting to recall Representative Robert Dean (D-Grand Rapids). By doing so, the Kent County Board of Electors becomes the first such Board in Michigan to follow the law instead of their own personal, political desires or opinions. Several Kent Election Board members expressed their disapproval of the recall of Rep. Dean, but admitted the language submitted was the "clearest they had ever seen" for a recall petition.

Recall Petition Language Rejected by Partisian Wayne County Electors Board
The Wayne County Board of Electors (consisting of three Democrats) rejected citizens recall language against House Speaker Andy Dillon (D-Redford Twp.) and State Representatives Marc Corriveau (D-Northville) and Ed Gaffney (R-Grosse Pointe). The Wayne County Board's action follows Monday's rejection by the Macomb County Board of Electors of petition language in the effort to recall Steve Bieda (D-Warren).

| Welcome to MichiganRecalls.com!
is a place where you can learn about current efforts by citizens to recall from office politicians who voted to increase taxes on Michigan’s economically struggling citizens. You can also learn how you can start the recall of a tax raiser, if your state Representative or Senator raised your taxes.
Recalls are a constitutional and legal right that citizens have as a recourse when they have lost faith that their representative in the legislature can represent them. Recalling an elected official is no different than a defendant in a court case firing his attorney when he no longer trusts that attorney is acting in his interests.
Recalling a lawmaker is difficult, as it should be. But it can be done, as it was in 1983 when citizens recalled two state senators who voted to increase the income tax.
We hope this website is helpful. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about the recall process or how we can improve this site.
Thank you for participating in the citizen’s right to recall process! |

Who Voted to Raise YOUR Taxes?
 |
In the quiet hours of Sunday night, while most people were asleep preparing for another week of work, certain lawmakers were plotting to raise your taxes. Without any citizen input or debate, the Michigan Legislature passed two bills that will dramatically increase the financial burden on Michigan's families.
The first, House Bill 5194, raises the state income tax from 3.9% to 4.35% – an 11% increase in your overall tax bill! I wonder how many Michigan workers will receive an 11% increase in their pay this year?
The other, House Bill 5198, imposes a new 6% sales tax on many services, a full list of which can be viewed here. The full impact of what this will have on Michigan's already struggling economy is unknown.
A full list of everyone who supported House Bill 5194 (income tax increase) in the House of Representatives can be viewed here and everyone who supported it in the Senate here.
A full list of everyone who supported House Bill 5198 (sales tax on services) in the House of Representatives can be viewed here and everyone who supported it in the Senate here.
Both bills were signed into law by Governor Granholm. |

Was a Tax Hike Necessary?
Not according to the experts at the Mackinac Center. Legislative Analyst Jack McHugh went over the State budget with a fine tooth comb and came up with $1.9 Billion in State budget savings. Even if only half of his recommendations were possible, wouldn't it have been better than raising taxes as much as they did?
You can read about his proposed budget savings here. |
