| Speaker Dillon uses violent, convicted felon to "educate voters"
The effort to recall Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon for his leading role in raising the state income tax by 12% and business taxes by (at least) 22% is finally becoming a bigger story in the media.
Today, The Detroit News published an article about the Michigan Democratic Party hiring Marcel L. Mitchell to "educate voters" about Speaker Dillon's voting record. Turns out that Mr. Mitchell's criminal record is as bad as Andy Dillon's record on tax hikes. Mitchell has been convicted eight times of armed robbery, firearms violations, and other criminal offenses and Mitchell HAS NEVER EVEN VOTED! So much for being a "voter educator". Check out the News article here. The Detroit Free Press printed a front page story about the Dillon recall today. The article focuses on how nasty the recall battle has become. Dillon's tactics have indeed been ugly. The article quotes Redford Township Supervisor, and key Dillon supporter, Miles "Boss Hogg" Handy as saying, "Tell them (the petitioners) to turn in the petitions right now so we can get on with it. Andy Dillon will be very successful." Hang in there, Boss Handy, the petitions will be turned in within a week. Read the Free Press article here. At least the Redford Township police appear to have stopped harassing petitioners since Wayne County Circuit Court Judge William Giovan called Redford Township Police Chief John Buck to inquire about the harassment complaints. Judge Giovan also sent Chief Buck a letter, which you can view here. In case you missed the tax protest outside the Redford Post Office on April 15, a short video of the protest can be viewed here. One last note to those of you out circulating the recall petition; please keep up the fantastic work! I know many of you are tired of the intimidation, the thug blockers, sick of dealing with Boss Handy's version of Roscoe P. Coletrain (Officer Gregg in Redford), and the weather is about to get worse. There are only a few days left and we need every valid signature.
